The Department of Mathematics at Drexel University invites applications for at least two tenure-track/tenure positions, effective September 2009. We are especially interested in candidates in Probability, Combinatorics, Dynamical Systems, Mathematical Biology, Partial Differential Equations, and Computational Mathematics, though exceptional candidates in other areas will be considered as well.
Applicants must possess a doctoral degree in mathematics, statistics, or equivalent and show a strong record and commitment to research and teaching.
Applicants for senior positions should demonstrate an outstanding record of achievement commensurate with the level of appointment, including a track record of external support and research group leadership.

Visiting Assistant Professorships

professorships in 2008-9. These positions will be one year
appointments, renewable for a second year. Workload includes 8-9
credit hours of teaching per quarter and an active research

Tenured or Tenure-track Faculty Position in Systems Biology
University of California, Irvine
The University of California, Irvine has embarked on a recruiting initiative in Systems Biology intended to fill seven faculty positions over three years. One position is available this year, for which candidates will be considered from all areas of Systems Biology, including biological networks, regulatory dynamics and control, spatial dynamics and morphogenesis, synthetic biology, and mathematical and computational biology. Applications are being solicited at the Assistant, Associate and Full Professor level, and appointment can be made in any of several departments, including Developmental and Cell Biology, Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics and Astronomy, Computer Science, and Statistics.
The successful applicant is expected to conduct a strong research program and to contribute to the teaching of undergraduate and graduate students. Signature Center for Mathematical Biosciences in Quantitative Methods in Proteomics and Genomics Research Group
A postdoctoral position is available at the new IUPUI Signature Center for Mathematical Biosciences in Quantitative Methods in Proteomics and Genomics Research Group. The Center provides a mechanism and an environment that fosters collaborative research activities across the mathematical sciences and the life and health sciences schools at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) specifically with the IU School of Medicine (IUSOM). The postdoc will join a collaborative effort to develop analytical and computational models of MS based proteomics, and their clinical applications.
Requirements: (1) PhD in mathematics/statistics, computer sciences, mathematical biology/physics, or related area. Background in statistical/computational methods for proteomics and/or genomics and/or metabolics would be beneficial; (2) Strong quantitative and computational skills; (3) Excellent communication skills.

The Department invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Mathematical Sciences at the rank of Assistant Professor, starting in Fall 2008. The successful candidate should have a PhD in mathematics or a related field, have an active, independent research program, strong potential to obtain external funding, and a commitment to excellence in teaching.
Preference will be given to candidates who are able to conduct interdisciplinary research with applications in life sciences, as well as those who are able interact with existing faculty in the department. Current research areas represented in the department include stochastic processes, numerical analysis, differential equations, optimization, mathematical modeling and statistics with applications in biological and environmental sciences and engineering.
