Sponsored Postdoctoral Fellowships

In addition to regular postdoctoral fellows there are also sponsored postdoctoral fellows, who are partially supported by a bioscience department or bioscience lab in the public or private sector. The sponsored postdoctoral fellow spends 50% time on research suggested by the sponsor. Current sponsors and research projects are:

Plant Gene Transcriptional Regulatory Networks
Sponsored by Professor Erich Grotewold, Department of Plant Cellular & Molecular Biology
Our lab is interested in establishing the transcriptional regulatory networks that participate in the control of plant genes. The project involves deducing network motif architecture by the analysis of genome-wide expression and genome-wide location (ChIP-chip) results coupled with DNA sequence motif discovery to predict transcription factor binding sites. The successful candidate must have an interest to work in close association with experimental molecular biologists.

Signaling Pathways in Development
Sponsored by Professor Hay-Oak Park, Department of Molecular Genetics
Our lab is interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms by which GTPases control various cellular processes in response to intra- and extra-cellular signals. One project focuses on the GTPase signaling pathways that are involved in the development of cell polarity using the budding yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae as a model system. Another project focuses on the role of Rho GTPases that regulate cellular redox homeostasis and oxidant-mediated signaling.
