Spatial Disease Spread

How will disease spread in spatially heterogeneous environment? I will discuss a frequency-dependent SIS epidemic model with multiple patches between which susceptible and infected individuals can both move. Patch differences in local disease transmission and recovery rates. I will focus on the effects of spatial heterogeneity, habitat connectivity, and rates of movement on the persistence and extinction of infectious diseases. If time allows, I will discuss a spatial SIS reaction-diffusion model.
